We are in the business of helping individuals and families become self-reliant and free from debt and government dependence. The generosity of our donors enables us to make grants that help our participants achieve their goals and become economically independent.
The ELM Foundation is a faith based, private operating foundation that works to reverse the cycle of poverty by helping individuals and families set goals, create plans, and access resources to become economically independent. Accountability, stewardship, and service are critical to the success of our model. Participation is by referral only. We accept referrals from non profit organizations, clergy, and community leaders.
How We Work
We have worked with over 300 participants since 2012. Each of these individuals has met with our case manager to review their needs and funding gaps and has created a development plan to take them to self-reliance. Grants have been awarded for child care, job training, tuition, books and fees, housing, and a variety of needs unique to each individual. Intensive case management requires commitment to the development and accountability for results. Regular meetings with the case manager assures that commitments are kept and success is celebrated.
Self Sufficiency will be achieved when development plans are followed and the participant is:
employed and earning at least 200% of federal poverty level
not receiving any public assistance
paying market rate for housing
paying all bills on time
saving money and planning for the future
helping to create "little miracles" for others
An annual contribution by our founders covers all operating expenses. As a result, 100% of all donations fund participant needs.
